Every Amazon Prime Day, shoppers gravitate towards certain items that they buy in droves and it's not always the kind of stuff you picture selling big. This is especially true for Amazon Prime Day 2023, where shoppers spent most of their money on Fire TV sticks, Echo Dot speakers, and surprisingly, Temptations Cat Treats.

According to an in-depth report by Numerator, the number one item on Prime Day shoppers bought in droves was Temptations Cat Treats. On its face, this seems like an odd choice, but cat treats are actually one of the many prudent things to pick up during Amazon's shopping holiday. It's not uncommon for shoppers to stock up on everything from toilet paper to eco-friendly diapers, and other household essentials, so why not stock up on cat treats as well?

While cat treats took the number one spot, Amazon brands took up more spaces in the top five.

Home goods took the number one spot as far as categories of items shoppers scooped up, accounting for 28% of all purchases during Amazon Prime Day 2023. Right behind that were household essentials, apparel and shoes and consumer electronics, followed by health and wellness products, beauty and cosmetics and toys and video games.
